Europa, Callisto, and Io, three of Jupiter’s four largest moons, can commonly be seen transiting the face of the giant planet and casting shadows onto its cloud tops. However, seeing three moons transiting the face of Jupiter at the same time is rare, occurring only once or twice a decade.
On Janurary 24th, 2015, the +Hubble Space Telescope captured a rare look at three of Jupiter’s largest moons zipping across the banded face of the gas giant planet.

American Sniper’s been killing it at the box office (HA!) But the American Solider has been killing (and being killed) on screen for decades. Time to take a look back… Get ready to get Film School’D SUBSCRIBE: http://goo.gl/9AGRm
War has been a popular topic for movies for a long time. After all, the source of conflict is built in, and heroes and villains are easy to find when life, country, and freedom are on the line. In the last 40 years, the American Soldier has played every role possible: Hero, villain, anti-hero, victim, clown, dramatic foil… If war is a where a man finds himself, then perhaps war movies are where nations find their collective selves.
How has the American Soldier as a character changed from Patton to Chris Kyle? Does presenting a soldier as damaged threaten our perception of her heroism? What current political ideologies influence filmmakers during times of controversial wars? We’ll answer all this and more. In WAAAAY less time than that Film Studies elective you were considering. You’re welcome.
What did you think? What’s your favorite war movie? What do you think is the truest representation of the American Soldier in film? Have you seen American Sniper, and what did you think of it? Do politics influence your enjoyment of movies? What other topics in filmmaking would you like to se us cover in the next episode of Film School’D?
Let us know in the comments!
