بدأ أنسي ساويرس حياته العملية في صعيد مصر حيث أسس شركة للمقاولات عرفت في البداية باسم لمعي وساويرس. و انفرد “انسي” بالشركة عام 1950 واتسع نشاطها بشكل غير مسبوق .
‏ ‏أنسي‏ ‏ساويرس‏ ‏بدأ‏ ‏من‏ ‏الصفر‏ ‏سنة‏ 1950, ‏يعني‏ ‏منذ‏ ‏ما‏ ‏يزيد‏ ‏علي‏ ‏نصف‏ ‏قرن‏ ,‏وكان‏ ‏عمره‏ ‏في‏ ‏ذاك‏ ‏الوقت‏ ‏عشرين‏ ‏سنة‏ ‏وقد‏ ‏تخرج‏ ‏في‏ ‏كلية‏ ‏الزراعة‏,‏لكنه‏ ‏لم‏ ‏يتصور‏ ‏نفسه‏ ‏فلاحا‏!! ‏فقام‏ ‏بتغيير‏ ‏مجري‏ ‏حياته‏ ‏كلية‏ ‏واتجه‏ ‏إلي‏ ‏المقاولات‏ ‏التي‏ ‏يحبها‏,‏وكان‏ ‏ذلك‏ ‏المجال‏ ‏جديدا‏ ‏عليه‏ ‏تماما‏ ‏ومن‏ ‏حسن‏ ‏حظه‏ ‏أن‏ ‏التقي‏ ‏بإنسان‏ ‏‏وتعلم‏ ‏منه‏ ‏المهنة‏ ‏علي‏ ‏أصولها‏ ‏وهو‏ ‏المرحوم‏ ‏لمعي‏ ‏يعقوب‏ ‏الذي‏ ‏كان‏ ‏غاية‏ ‏في‏ ‏الذكاء‏ ‏‏,‏ويفهم‏ ‏عمله‏ ‏جيدا‏ ‏وموهوبا‏ ‏في‏ ‏الحسابات‏ ‏رغم‏ ‏أنه‏ ‏لم‏ ‏يكن‏ ‏خريج‏ ‏جامعة‏ ‏لكنه‏ ‏حصل‏ ‏علي‏ ‏الدكتوراه‏ ‏في‏ ‏الحياة‏ ‏والدنيا‏ ‏التي‏ ‏عاش‏ ‏فيها‏,

‏وفي‏ ‏سنة‏ 1950 ‏تكونت‏ ‏شركة‏ ‏لمعي‏ ‏وأنسي‏ ‏للمقاولات‏ ,‏ والعنوان‏ ‏التلغرافي‏ ‏لهذه‏ ‏الشركة‏ ‏هو (‏ ‏أوراسكوم‏ ‏) الذي‏ ‏أطلقه‏ ‏أنسي‏ ‏ساويرس‏ ‏في‏ ‏سنة‏ 1977 ‏علي‏ ‏شركته‏ ‏الخاصة‏ ‏التي‏ ‏أسسها‏ ‏بعد‏ ‏عودته‏ ‏من‏ ‏ليبيا‏,‏وبدأ‏ ‏بثلاثة‏ ‏موظفين‏ ‏فقط‏ ‏ومنهم‏ ‏ابنة‏ ‏أخته‏ ‏وتدعي‏ ‏نبيلة‏ ‏المنقبادي‏ ‏ومهندس‏ ‏اسمه‏ ‏شريف‏ ‏فانوس‏ ,‏وانطلقت‏ ‏الشركة‏ ‏الوليدة‏ ‏من‏ ‏حجرتين‏ ‏وصالة‏,‏وهذه‏ ‏الأيام‏ ‏تمر‏ ‏ثلاثون‏ ‏سنة‏ ‏علي‏ ‏قيام‏ ‏هذا‏ ‏الكيان‏ ‏الاقتصادي‏ ‏الذي‏ ‏بدأ‏ ‏صغيرا‏ ‏ثم‏ ‏تحول‏ ‏إلي‏ ‏عملاق‏ ‏ضخم‏ ‏يضم‏ ‏آلاف‏ ‏العاملين‏ ,‏وسر‏ ‏النجاح‏ ‏كما‏ ‏أخبرتك‏ ‏يرجع‏ ‏إلي‏ ‏الحرص‏ ‏علي‏ ‏تعليم‏ ‏أولاده‏ ‏في‏ ‏أرقي‏ ‏جامعات‏ ‏العالم‏,‏بالإضافة‏ ‏إلي‏ ‏أن‏ ‏كل‏ ‏واحد‏ ‏من‏ ‏فرسانه‏ ‏الثلاثة‏ ‏ينطبق‏ ‏عليهم‏ ‏المثل‏ ‏القائل‏: ‏ابن‏ ‏الوز‏ ‏عوام‏ ‏يعني‏ ‏شاطر‏ ‏زي‏ ‏أبوه‏! .
عام 1966 م غادر انسي مصر الى ليبيا، وهناك احترف أعمال التوكيلات والمقاولات واستمر يمارس نشاطه حتى عام 1975م

كان أجرأ قرار اتخذه “انسي ساويرس” في حياته هو ايفاد أولاده الثلاثة للتعلم بالخارج. ـ
حيث أرسل نجيب إلى “سويسرا” للالتحاق بمعهد بولي تكنيك، وهو معهد معروف بتخريج القاده، وكبار رجال الادارة العليا بأوروبا. كما أوفد “سميح” إلى جامعة برلين، وناصف إلى جامعة شيكاغو المتخصصة في الأعمال والمال.

مجموعة “أوراسكوم” وصل حجم استثماراتها في مصر من عام 1995 وحتى الآن إلى 900 مليون دولار
