You ever notice that certain actors and actresses always play the exact same type of roles, no matter what sort of movie they’re performing in? And that role is almost always an exact replica of their real-life personalities, so it’s not even like they have to try very hard to act it out perfectly. How is this allowed? How do these people keep getting away with this? And why is it so gosh darn effective and entertaining??

In this video, we’ll dive deep into the phenomenon of actors who only tend to play themselves. We’ll look at some prime examples, across multiple different genres. We’ll also theorize how and why this is the case, and discuss the positive and negative sides of this apparent trend.
