You know how movies love to use the “based on a true story” tagline? It’s so common, especially more and more these days. It’s almost a marketing strategy; make the audience believe that what they’re watching is real so that they’ll be more attached and more invested. After all, that’s the point, right? To make people believe what they’re watching is real, even if it’s so absurdly unrealistic?

In this video, we’ll explore exactly what “based on a true story” mean. We’ll take a magnifying glass to that statement and examine just how far the bounds of reality are allowed to be stretched. We’ll take a look at some interesting examples and dabble in the legal side of things. What are movies allowed to do and what aren’t they? Today, we’re going to take a look at some of the moments that confused, disturbed, and caused the audience to feel a mighty amount of cringe.
Even though the film had a cast filled with A-List actors, it still didn’t do well. Dame Judi Dench, Sir Ian McKellen, Idris Elba, James Corden, Jennifer Hudson, Rebel Wilson, and many more. Even the star power of Taylor Swift and Jason Derulo couldn’t help the Jellicle cats. Anywho, what can you expect to see in the video? Well, you’re going to see why the film’s use of catnip is a little disturbing. We’re going to see what impact Universal Pictures had on this film’s final edit. Let’s just say that the director, Tom Hooper, had to do a lot of work before its premiere. Roughly 36 hours’ worth! You can also expect entries involving characters like Jennyanydots, Old Deuteronomy, Victoria, and Macavity. Especially when it comes to their clothes, or lack thereof. Also, we’ll take a gander at the infamous cockroaches! We even throw in a Jackson Galaxy reference or two! The Cat Daddy! So, before we depart for the Heaviside Layer, let’s see what creeped the audience for this feline flick the most!
