THE LIST

James Bond
James Bond Franchise (1962-present)
The spy we all want to be or be with! He’s cool, he’s sexy, he’s a secret agent, and nobody wears a tux (or tiny blue swim shorts) better!

Rocky
Rocky (1976)
He didn’t need to win the fight because he went the distance! The bootstrap hero who pulled himself out of the gutter and found fame through sheer willpower.

Ellen Ripley
Alien (1979)
She may start off as the everyman character but she shows us that there is a hero inside everyone and lets us feel like maybe we too could kick some alien ass!

The Tramp
City Lights (1931) and Modern Times (1936)
Some heroes leap into action, others fall into the role with luck being their greatest weapon.

Travis Bickle
Taxi Driver (1976)
Certainly not a traditional do-gooder type of hero, instead he is dark, disenfranchised, and hitting a breaking point, while still trying to take a stand and make the world better, even if it’s by violent means.

Rick Blaine
Casablanca (1942)
From jaded cynic to noble patriot, he puts past wounds behind him and does the right thing.

T.E. Lawrence
Lawrence of Arabia (1962)
He went on an emotional journey while on a physical journey through the desert, and returned a changed man.

Superman
Superman (1978)
He fights for social justice and rights wrongs, he stands up for the little guy, and was able to make the jump from the comics to the big screen at a time the world needed a hero they could trust to do the right thing.

Robin Hood
Robin Hood (early 1900s-present)
He does what’s right and stands up to authority without having the shield of superpowers. (But man, those tights!)

Han Solo
Star Wars Franchise (1977 – present)
A survivor who fought for good and lives on as a symbol. A dash of the ubermensch, a pinch of the anti hero, and some pure, unadulterated swagger… who else could we pick?
