Have you ever heard of something and thought, with all your heart, you wanted it to be true. Maybe you were a kid and didn’t know any better or someone who just wants to believe in the absurd. But sooner or later, the truth comes out and you have a hard pill to swallow. You have been bamboozled. Don’t worry, though, we have been lied to and have been tricked before and the best way to deal with it is to look back and laugh. Gamers have experienced this from day one. Kids would tell all their friends at school that Sonic is totally unlockable in Super Smash Bros. Melee or that you can totally find Mew under the truck in Pokemon Red and Blue. However, as we got older and the internet started to be widely used, hoaxes that we believed back in the day started to disappear. Of course, as most of us know, rumors and misinformation pop up again and soon we had more elaborate and harder to disprove lies. Suddenly, we started to get these “old secrets” and other myths about our favorite games that were a little easier to pull off and a little harder to disprove. The Nintendo Switch is out in full force. It knocked 2017 on it’s heels with an arsenal of games that will go down in history as some of Nintendo’s best. Super Mario Odyssey blew away all expectations and brought the Switch to the forefront of this console generation. Time and time again, Nintendo has shown that games and mechanics win console wars and not graphics alone. However, today’s consoles do more than play games. They connect to the internet, host streaming services and a whole cavalcade of features. Now Nintendo, brilliant in their game design, yet stubborn in their hardware, have been slow to embrace things like Online play and fail to do it as well as their competitors, but they make up for this with convenience features most systems don’t put stock into today. The Switch not only facilitates the need to game on the go, further solidifying Nintendo’s dominance in the handheld market, but the Switch has a whole host of features you, as a Switch owner, may not know about. God of War has been a ridiculously popular franchise since the release of the first title back in 2005. Greek mythology and violent combat has enticed gamers as soon as they laid their eyes on the first trailer. The overall franchise has not disappointed either. However, within the confines of the Greek mythology storyline, what is left for Kratos to accomplish? His storyline may have played itself out to completion, but fans still want more.

In 2014, a new God of War title was announced as being in the works. This time, however, Kratos steps out of the Greek locale and storyline and into one of Nordic mythology. An older and somewhat wiser version of Kratos will find out what it means to be a father and lead his child through what it means to be of the gods. Needless to say, fans are prepared to see what this title has in store for Kratos now that he has had his vengeance against Zeus.

However, with a new title and storyline comes changes. Most notably, the game mechanics and combat aspects will see some changes. Whether or not fans will take a shine to the new mechanics will have to wait until the game is officially released. Will fans accept this new title in the God of War series or will it fall flat? If the trailer is any indication, the game certainly has some interesting changes for fans to explore. Fans will have to wait to see if they enjoy this new title in the franchise in April of 2018.
