God of War has been a ridiculously popular franchise since the release of the first title back in 2005. Greek mythology and violent combat has enticed gamers as soon as they laid their eyes on the first trailer. The overall franchise has not disappointed either. However, within the confines of the Greek mythology storyline, what is left for Kratos to accomplish? His storyline may have played itself out to completion, but fans still want more.
In 2014, a new God of War title was announced as being in the works. This time, however, Kratos steps out of the Greek locale and storyline and into one of Nordic mythology. An older and somewhat wiser version of Kratos will find out what it means to be a father and lead his child through what it means to be of the gods. Needless to say, fans are prepared to see what this title has in store for Kratos now that he has had his vengeance against Zeus.
However, with a new title and storyline comes changes. Most notably, the game mechanics and combat aspects will see some changes. Whether or not fans will take a shine to the new mechanics will have to wait until the game is officially released. Will fans accept this new title in the God of War series or will it fall flat? If the trailer is any indication, the game certainly has some interesting changes for fans to explore. Fans will have to wait to see if they enjoy this new title in the franchise in April of 2018.
