The Nintendo consoles have had their fair share of classic titles. From Super Mario to the Legend of Zelda to Kirby and even early Final Fantasy titles, Nintendo consoles were the cream of the crop back in the day due to their incredible libraries of games. That being said, there have been plenty of Nintendo games that didn’t end up on store shelves whether it’s due to an insufficient budget, a sudden change in leadership or something completely out of the developer’s control. In the end, video game companies are running a business and sometimes, games are just not meant to be released.

Donkey Kong Racing was supposed to be a released for the Nintendo GameCube as a rival to Mario Kart: Double Dash, but after developer Rare was bought by Microsoft in 2002, plans changed. Super Kid Icarus was announced by Nintendo to be released on the SNES as the successor to the cult classic Kid Icarus, but no news ever came about it’s development. Cheetahmen II is known as one of the worst games of all-time and is supposedly so bad the developers decided to scrap the project altogether. Dwagons is not just a cute pronunciation of the mythical dragon, it was supposed to be a gem of the 16-bit golden age. Pilotwings was one of the first games ever released for the Super Nintendo and was highly successful, but a sequel never came about. There are some seriously scary things in this world and some people try and chase after it by seeking thrills in one way or another. Some people go on scary rides, watch scary movies and even visit haunted houses.

Some of us, however, play video games that get our heart racing. Horror games have an interesting history. Some are good, most are bad and that’s just the way we like it. Take your pick, there are survival horror games, supernatural horror games and so many in between, but there are some scares that are not properly labeled. Sometimes, the most innocent things can be frightening. This is what usually scars you for life and later develop into phobias. People may not always realize it, but sometimes kids games can be downright unnerving, whether a character just rubs you the wrong way or something that might not seem so bad triggers a phobia deep inside you, these unintentional nightmares can be scarier than some horror games. This defines the term “childhood trauma” and you might even recognize some of the characters on this list. Just try not to scream too loud.

Fortnite is huge, and this means it wants to stay that way. The only way to fail is not to adapt, so Epic Games has been sure to keep things changing. These old Fortnite items and deleted Fortnite items may come back one day. But for now, we’re going to be left with new Fortnite items, Fortnite traps, and Fortnite weapons.

While the unenlightened may hear “battle station” and think of some command console on a fighting vessel, true gamers know that a battle station is where your most heroic fights, your most death-defying feats, and your most incredible accomplishments all take place, gamepad in hand.

Most of us would be lucky to have a couch and a big screen TV to game on, but for those with the means, a gamer station can take on a truly epic scale and scope. Flashing LED lights, curved glowing monitors, and dozens of surround-sound speakers are the hallmark of a gaming enthusiast’s crib.

On the other side of the spectrum, we have the less fortunate gamer who ekes out a meager thrill on whatever they can scrounge up. Despite these battle stations’ shoddy appearances we must always give them our respect, for the call of games hearkens to every man, woman, and in between, and not all of them have the financial support to play on the most cutting edge technology available.

Many countries have various reasons why they decide to ban games. Some of the games on this list seem pretty light, but governments always find a way to make a mountain out of a molehill and we can’t say we’re surprised. Subscribe to The Gamer: https://goo.gl/9cpWgf

There are a number of reasons games should be banned like excessive violence, nudity or offensive language, but we feel even the best reason for a ban should have an explanation. We’re also not certain the government should be in charge of banning games because sometimes they do it for silly reasons. We can see where game ratings come in to help eliminate children from getting their hands on games not suitable for them, but should adults have restrictions on video games too?

No matter which side of the coin you’re on in politics, sometimes the government thinks they have their citizens’ best interest at heart. And sometimes, it feels like they’re eliminating the freedom of choice when they ban games. Harmless games like EA Sports MMA which had one scene showing a pair of pants with an energy drink supplier was banned by Denmark. The country outlawed marketing of energy drinks, which included through video games as well, and neither EA or Denmark budged which meant the game was outright banned and not accessible to the country. Talk about taking stubbornness to a new extreme. Even Football Manager 2005 had a whole myriad of problems, but China banned the game for showing Tibet and Taiwan as independent countries. It’s okay, they also banned Pokemon Go for security concerns and Command and Conquer: Generals for showing their military in a negative light. The gaming companies need to stop bringing dishonor and getting outright banned in the country.

Then again, it seems pretty impossible to make everyone happy and there are a lot of rules which apply to video games in other countries. Join us as we take a look at these harmless games that were banned around the world!

Horror-based games are created for the sole purpose of scaring players and delivering thrills. Then, there are the regular games that toss in horror elements. The unexpected scares can have an even bigger impact and create truly terrifying experiences for gamers. See some of these moments and the levels you may want to avoid in the future.

In the Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, Link is sent down to the bottom of a well for an adventure we wish we could turn back time on. Super Mario 64 is all happy and hopeful until you enter Boo’s haunted mansion and find some instances that will give you nightmares. Minecraft allows you to explore a seemingly endless world until you come across the Woodland Mansion and all the horrors inside. Max Payne has had a hard life and it’s illustrated by a haunting level that will become ingrained in your mind. Okami is a beautiful and artistic game until you enter the sunken ship and wish you could use the paint brush to create something a little more optimistic. The Halo series introduced a parasite known as The Flood and the classic alien FPS turned into a heart-pulsing fight for your life. In Batman: Arkham Asylum, the Dark Knight goes up against the Scarecrow and must deal with some crazy hallucinations in an abandoned morgue. Grand Theft Auto 5 features guns, girls and ghosts. You could actually spot the creepy creature in the mountains. Watch to see all of these scary levels and moments from your favorite video games.
