SIBLING RIVALRY: Mario VS. LUIGI. Mario and Luigi have been at each other’s throats since they first jumped into our hearts all those years ago, but can Luigi actually take on his brother in a fight?
Mario and Luigi are the iconic dynamic duo, the Mario Brothers, a pair as old as gaming itself. However, since the first Super Mario game, these two have been at each other’s throats. Of course, Luigi back then was more like a green Mario, acting as the second player. Mario and Luigi have been through thick and thin for the past twenty odd years, but recently, Nintendo has been putting more emphasis on their sibling rivalry by pitting them against each other in all sorts of games from the sports games to racing to party games. Even the New Super Mario series has you go head to head with other players who are supposed to be your allies.
It has culminated into an age old question, one that predates this and all rivalries, who can beat up who and why? In the green corner we have Luigi, the younger yet taller brother in the Mario brothers. He has had time, patience and an objectively better ultimate smash than Mario. In the red corner, we have Mario, the original, the star child, Nintendo’s poster boy. Who will win? You’ll help decide when we look at some of Luigi’s greatest strengths against Mario and how Mario can still kick his brother’s butt!
