روح الله بن مصطفى بن أحمد الموسوي الخميني (بالفارسية: سید روح‌ الله موسوی خمینی)، رجل دين سياسي إيراني من مواليد 24 سبتمبر 1902 وتوفى في 3 يونيو 1989، حكم إيران في الفترة من (1979-1989) وكان فيلسوفاً ومرجعاً دينياً شيعياً أيضاً، قاد الثورة الإيرانية حتى أطاح بالشاه محمد رضا بهلوي المعروف بالبهلوي الثاني والذي سبقه الشاه رضا بهلوي. وكان كالأب الروحي لعدد من الشيعة داخل إيران وخارجها.
درجته الحوزوية آية الله وتضاف إليها العظمى لأنه بلغ الاجتهاد في نظر الشيعة وأصدر رسالته العملية، أي مجموعة فتاواه في العبادات والمعاملات في الإسلام. وسمته مجلة التايم (الأمريكية) برجل العام في سنة 1979.
خلفية عن عائلته
جد الخميني سيد أحمد الموسوي الهندي ولد في كنتور بالهند وكان معاصراً لآية الله حامد حسين الكنتوري اللكهنوي. وبسبب الانتشار البريطاني في الهند اضطر سيد أحمد لمغادرة الهند عام 1830م إلى مدينة النجف العراقية حيث مرقد الإمام علي بن أبي طالب. في عام 1834م غادر سيد أحمد النجف ليتجه إلى فارس ليستقر عام 1839 م في مدينة خمين. تزوج في خمين لاحقاً فأنجب ثلاثة بنات وثلاثة أبناء، وأحدهم كان السيد مصطفى أب الإمام الخميني. تزوج السيد مصطفی نحو 1882م مع هاجر آغاخانم بنت آقا ميرزا أحمد وهو من مدينة خوانسار. وكان أحد أولادهم السيد روح الله الخميني.
آية الله الخميني تزوج خديجة ثقفي (1913 – 21 مارس 2009) وهي تُعرف بأم الثورة الإسلامية الإيرانية
تزوجت الخميني عام 1929 ، ابنها مصطفى
توفي في العراق عام 1977 بينما الابن الثاني أحمد توفي جراء سكتة قلبية في عام 1995 في سن الخمسين
توفيت خديجة ثقفي في 21 مارس 2009 في طهران بعد صراع طويل مع المرض عن عمر يناهز ال 95 ، وقد حضر آلاف الأشخاص الجنازة لها، بما في ذلك المرشد الأعلى لإيران آية الله علي خامنئي والرئيس محمود أحمدي نجاد . حيث دفنت مع زوجها في مكتبه في ضريح في بهشت الزهراء

لقد كان لسماحة الإمام الخميني ثمانية أبناء:
1ـ الشهيد آية الله السيد مصطفى الخميني.
2ـ علي، وقد توفي وهو في سن الرابعة.
3ـ السيدة صديقة زوجة المرحوم آية الله الإشراقي.
4ـ السيدة فريدة زوجة السيد الأعرابي.
5ـ السيدة فهيمة (زهراء) زوجة الدكتور البروجردي.
6ـ سعيدة، وقد توفيت وهي في سن السبعة أشهر.
7ـ المرحوم سماحة السيد أحمد الخميني.
8ـ لطيفة، وقد توفيت في طفولتها.

ولادته
ولد روح الله الخميني في العشرین من الجمادى الثاني سنة 1320 هـ الموافق ل24 سبتمبر عام 1902 م في مدينة خمين إحدی مدن المحافظة المركزية.

طفولته
كان والده السيد مصطفى الخميني أحد علماء الشيعة حيث درس علوم الفقه في النجف لعدة سنوات.. وعندما كان في طريقه من خمين إلى آراك اعترضه مسلحون اطلقوا النار عليه وأردوه قتيلا.
