Movie trailers are an integral part of movie studio’s marketing strategies for their films. They usually end up being make-or-break for studios— if a trailer is GREAT, you can have a full house on opening night. If a trailer is awful – well if it’s for a Sonic the Hedgehog movie, it’s gonna send you back to the drawing board and cost you millions of dollars.
But one thing that the majority of movie trailers have in common, especially these days, is that they OVERSHARE WAY TOO MUCH. How many times have you sat through a movie trailer, only to realize that you’d basically just seen the entire movie. Trailers for films contain so much information that they sometimes spoil major twist and plot points. So why does this happen — and what would happen if you stopped watching them?
