الفنانة الراحلة ولدت في مدينة الإسكندرية -شمال مصر- وانتقلت عام 1962 إلى القاهرة، لتلتحق بكلية الآداب في جامعة عين شمس وبدأت مشوارها الفني عام 1963 بأدوار صغيرة في السينما والمسرح، كما عملت في عروض الأزياء، وتدرجت في الأدوار الثانوية حتى حصلت علي دور البطولة أمام الفنان فريد شوقي في فيلم 30 يوم في السجن في أواخر ستينات القرن العشرين.
جاءتها الفرصة للبطولة المطلقة مع المخرج كمال الشيخ في فيلمه الصعود إلى الهاوية مع الفنان محمود ياسين بعدما رفضت الدور كل عدد من نجمات السبعينات لتنطلق بعد هذا الفيلم في عالم النجومية.
مديحة كامل تزوجت ثلاث مرات، الأولى كانت من رجل الأعمال «محمود الريس» وأنجبا ابنتهم الوحيدة «ميرهان»، تزوجت بعد ذلك من المخرج السينمائي شريف حمودة أما زواجها الأخير فكان من محامي.
مديحة ارتدت الحجاب واعتزلت العمل الفني في أبريل 1992 وكان آخر أفلامها فيلم بوابة إبليس الذي شاركت في بطولته عايدة عبدالعزيز وحسن الأسمر ولعب البطولة أمامها الفنان هشام عبدالحميد.

الفنانة الراحلة عانت من مرض القلب طوال حياتها، وأصيبت المرة الأولى بجلطة عام 1975 أثناء تصويرها مسلسل الأفعى، إلا أن متاعبها الصحية الجدية بدأت قبل وفاتها بعام حيث ظلت طريحة الفراش في مستشفى مصطفى محمود لمدة عشرة أشهر بسبب ضعف عضلة القلب وتراكم المياه على الرئة بشكل مستمر مما أستدعى مكثوها في المستشفى لفترة طويلة.
وفي منزلها يوم 13 يناير 1997 المصادف الرابع من شهر رمضان توفيت مديحة كامل بعد أن صلت صلاة الفجر جماعة مع ابنتها وزوج ابنتها، ثم خلدت للنوم، وتم العثور عليها ميتة في ظهر اليوم التالي.
حياة مديحة كامل لم تكن ترضي أسرتها خاصة ابنتها التي تربت في كنف خالتها وزوجها وكانت الإبنة سببا رئيسيا في توبة أمها التي ارتدت الحجاب واعتزلت قبل الوفاة بل وخرجت في أحد البرامج التليفزيونية لتهاجم بعنف الوسط الفني.

تمتعت مديحة كامل بوجه حيوي جذاب يمزج بين البراءة والإثارة، ما منحها الفرصة لتجسيد أدوار مختلفة سواء في التليفزيون أو المسرح أو السينما، لكنها تركت كل هذا

وانسحبت مفضلة الاختفاء عن الأنظار لتتعبد وترعى ابنتها وتتفرغ لمصنع التريكو الذي افتتحته قبل اعتزالها
احترم الجميع رغبة الحاجة مديحة في عدم

الظهور ورفضها التقاط صورا بالحجاب، ولم تتكلم طوال الأعوام الخمس إلا مرة واحدة حين تردد أنها تزوجت من الداعية الإسلامي، ياسين رشدي، ومع تردد الخبر جاء صوت

«مديحة» ليكذب هذا الخبر، ثم اختفت مرة أخرى وكان الاختفاء الأخير، وما هي إلا أشهر بعد خبر الزواج الكاذب، حتى استيقظ الجميع على خبر وفاتها في اليوم الرابع من شهر رمضان التي حلمت أن يكون فيه رحيلها فكانت النهاية في الموعد المحبب إلي قلبها

ولدت مديحة كامل صالح أحمد في 3 أغسطس 1948 بمدينة الإسكندرية، لأب يملك مضارب أرز النيل علي ترعة المحمودية، وترتيبها الثاني بين أخوتها الـ6، وكانوا 3 بنات و3 أولاد
