Fighting the Opioid Epidemic on #TakeBackDay—Jacqueline’s Story

This is the story of Jacqueline. After losing her son, Adam, to a heroin overdose, Jacqueline dedicated herself to helping other families struggling with substance use by volunteering as a Parent Coach with Partnership for Drug-Free Kids.

Nearly half of Americans have a friend or family member who has been addicted to drugs.  Many of us keep all kinds of unneeded medications in our unlocked medicine cabinets. But these highly addictive medications are at high risk of being misused by friends and family members. Safely disposing of unneeded medications is a simple, concrete step that everyone can take to keep friends and loved ones safe. That’s why twice a year, in April and October, Google partners with the DEA to promote National Prescription Drug Take Back Day and make it easier for everyone to find a convenient drug collection site near them.

#TakeBackDay is Saturday, April 27th, from 10AM-2PM. We urge you to make a plan to take back your unused medications. Find a nearby drop off site at https://g.co/rxtakeback.

If your loved one is struggling with substances, contact the Partnership’s Helpline to get the support you need: Call 1-855-DRUGFREE or text 55753 to be connected to a parent specialist. Or visit https://drugfree.org/helpline.
