All The Ways Captain Marvel Connects To The MCU

Captain Marvel has a ton of connections to the rest of the Marvel Cinematic Universe! Subscribe to our channel: http://bit.ly/Subscribe-to-Screenrant

Apart from 2011’s Captain America: The First Avenger, none of the movies in the Marvel Cinematic Universe have been set in the distant past – until now.

This year’s Captain Marvel was set more than two decades ago in the mid-1990s, so it’s something of a standalone MCU installment in terms of where it fits in with every other offering in the franchise to date – at least for the time being.

There were, however, several connections and references to the wider MCU in the movie – and, in this video, we’ll go through them all for you.

The connections and references (which vary from very obvious ones to rather subtle ones) were; Samuel L. Jackson’s Nick Fury, S.H.I.E.L.D., Nick Fury’s eye patch, Nick Fury’s pager, Clark Gregg’s Phil Coulson, Cobie Smulders’ Maria Hill, Stan Lee, Level Three, the Tesseract, Project Pegasus, the Quadjet, the Skrulls, Lee Pace’s Ronan, the Accusers, the Cosmi-Rod, the Capital ships, Djimon Hounsou’s Korath, hyperspace jumps, the Kree architecture, the way in which the Kree saved Carol Danvers’ life, parallels to the Inhumans, the Kree’s memory manipulation, the Kree’s mental communication, the Kree inhibitor, on-screen planetary coordinates and title cards, the Avenger Initiative, the mid-credits scene, and the post-credits scene.

We hope you enjoy the video! Did you notice any other MCU references or connections in Captain Marvel? Please leave a comment letting us know your thoughts. And don’t forget to subscribe to Screen Rant’s YouTube channel, so you never miss our great new video uploads in the future.

10 Marvel Characters More Powerful Than MCU’s Captain Marvel

Captain Marvel might be the most powerful MCU hero so far, but Marvel Comics has some characters that put her to shame! Subscribe to our channel: http://bit.ly/Subscribe-to-Screenrant

Marvel Studios’ Captain Marvel has taken the global box office by storm, with Brie Larson’s character proving very popular with the majority of viewers.

One of the main reasons for that is how awesomely powerful she is – although we’re still yet to see the full potential of what she’s truly capable of.

It’s said that she’s the most powerful superhero in the Marvel Cinematic Universe – more so than the likes of Thor and Doctor Strange – but it’s also fair to say that the MCU is a few tiers below the comics in terms of power levels.

With that in mind, we’re going to list ten Marvel characters from the comics – all heroes, and no abstract cosmic entities – who are far more powerful than Brie Larson’s live action version of Carol Danvers.

The characters in question are; the comic book version of Captain Marvel (Carol Danvers) herself, the Quantum Band-wielding Quasar (Wendell Vaughn), the God of Thunder Thor, the cosmic being Adam Warlock, the mutant Phoenix Force host Jean Grey, the Sorcerer Supreme Doctor Strange (Stephen Strange), the Herald of Galactus the Silver Surfer (Norrin Radd), the Strontian warrior Gladiator (Kallark), the reality-warping Scarlet Witch (Wanda Maximoff), and the enormously powerful Sentry (Robert Reynolds).

We hope you enjoy the video! Which other Marvel Comics’ characters are more powerful than Brie Larson’s MCU version of Captain Marvel? Please leave a comment letting us know what you think.

25 Movie Scenes That Look Totally Different Without Special Effects

Sometimes special effects make up a lot more of a movie than we realize! Subscribe to our channel: http://bit.ly/Subscribe-to-Screenrant

We have a come a long way with special effects. It seems like just yesterday that X-Men came out and now, our standards are much higher. There is truly no limit to what we can create on a computer and it has changed the game entirely. Over the past couple of years, we have been spoiled rotten with movies like Tron, Deadpool, and what feels like one thousand Avengers movies that are breaking new cinematic ground. The thing is, even the best of the best look totally different before special effects teams come in and work their magic. Today, we will be looking at twenty five scenes that look totally different after special effects. We’ll be going back as far as 1994 and seeing how Forrest Gump used what is called “digital erasing” in the scene where he shakes JFK’s hand. In addition, we’ll be studying the many ways to use green screen, covering everything from The Hunger Games using the 900 feet of screens in the scene where Katnis tries to take down the capital, to Daenerys Targaryen having to pet a green screen dragon. We have dug deep to uncover the secrets behind slow mo and will show you what The Matrix “bullet backbend” scene looked like before it came to be the iconic shot we know so well. Join us as we peek behind the curtain and take a look at what it takes to make our favourite movies.

Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse Pitch Meeting

Step inside the pitch meeting that led to Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse! Subscribe for more Pitch Meetings: http://bit.ly/Subscribe-to-Screenrant

We’ve gotten a whooooole lot of Spider-Man movies over the past two decades. From Tobey Maguire to Andrew Garfield to Tom Holland, there have been a ton of incarnations of the Marvel web-slinger. So apparently Sony took it upon themselves to cram as many NEW incarnations of the character into a single movie as humanly possible. The Oscar-winning Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse brought us Miles Morales, an older chubby Peter Parker, Spider-Gwen, Spider-Ham, Peni Parker and Spider-Man Noir. The movie is great, but it does raise a few questions… Like what was Gwen doing for a full week? Why didn’t Kingpin ever finish Miles off when he had the chance? How does that machine even work, anyway?

To answer all these questions and more, step inside the pitch meeting that led to Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse! It’s super easy, barely an inconvenience!
