Star Wars is now one of the biggest franchises in history, but back when it was pitched in the 1970’s it must have sounded pretty strange. The movie has become a classic, but rewatching it raises some questions. Like why was Luke Skywalker so whiny? Why were those imperial soldiers and Stormtroopers so incompetent? Who shot first? Why did Obi Wan Kenobi pick such a bad fake name for himself? Why why the devil hanging out at a space Cantina?

In comic books, characters are never really dead, and that has been much of the case in the movies they’re based on. Today however, we’re looking at the characters whose deaths had a meaningful impact. We’re looking at the deaths that shaped the Marvel heroes we love.

Spoilers for every MCU movie to follow!

A look at Ultron’s death and how it solidified Vision as both an Avenger and a human being. The Ancient One’s death was the final lesson in Steven Strange’s journey toward true humility, and a great element of his solo film. The sacrifice that put Scarlet Witch on the Avengers, and started Hawkeye on his dark road to Endgame. The death of Wakanda’s king sets his son T’Challa on a dangerous path of revenge and provided a lot of exciting storytelling elements for the movie. The murder of T’Challa’s uncle by his father forever changes the new king’s perception of his home country. Killmonger’s ideas, though executed violently, cause T’Challa to rethink his entire worldview. Groot (the first) and his final sacrifice cemented the Guardians of the Galaxy as a true family. Nebula killing her former self in defense of Gamora shows how far she’s come since we first met her in 2014. The traumatic death of Peter Quill’s mother keeps him from fully accepting the love of other people.

Star-Lord refuses all the power in the world in exchange for a family who truly loves him. Learn how all these deaths have helped shaped the MCU, moved plots forward, and completely changed the course of these movies.

With the huge success of Avengers: Endgame, fans have now had the time to digest the film. With that, a heap of questions have popped up. One question that the fans have asked is, “hey, what did Tony Stark see when he used the Infinity Gauntlet?”. During Avengers: Infinity War, once Thanos had snapped his fingers with the completed Gauntlet, the whole universe changed. At that moment, Thanos was able to speak with a young Gamora in Soul World. In doing so, he was able to ease his self-inflicted guilty burden. When Iron Man did the same process in Endgame, he didn’t have such a scene. Or did he? In short, there was a scene in the original test screening of the film in which he did. It’s been confirmed by Joe and Anthony Russo, the directors of Endgame. But what was this missing piece of the Marvel puzzle? Check out the video for the surprising answer!

Also, in an announcement last year, Katherine Langford was cast in Endgame. Yet when the film came out in the cinemas, there was no sign of her. Fans have poured over the film looking for her, but to no avail. Now, thanks to the Russo brothers, we know EXACTLY what her role was in Endgame.
