The future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe is completely open now that Avengers: Endgame has brought to a close the Infinity Saga (excluding Spider-Man: Far From Home of course, that is set to serve as a sort of epilogue of sorts). Which means that basically everyone is starting to speculate about what is coming next.

While Disney and Marvel have been pretty tight lipped about things for now, we know of at least a handful of films that are about as certain to happen as they can get. Sure, Marvel hasn’t yet announced them, but come on, we know they are happening.

Black Widow, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, Black Panther 2, and the subject of this video, Doctor Strange 2. Yep, after teaming up with the Avengers and giving away the Time Stone, Doctor Strange is back and ready to whip up some magical fun. But what exactly is in store this time around? Well, sit back, relax, and we’ll show you!

A little over a month ago, a twitter account belonging to someone with inside knowledge of the behind-the-scenes going ons at Marvel put out a small bit of info about the Doctor Strange sequel, which has had people thinking and theorizing for a while.

In this video, we discuss one of our theories about the as-of-yet unannounced film, and how it could bring Strange, Jericho Drumm, Clea, and even the Ancient One back, in order to face off against the biggest of evil bad guys, Dormammu.

Time travel is complicated. Doctor Strange teased at the potential of these issues in his solo movie, but the big ol’ can of time-traveling worms was just opened up in a huge way thanks to Endgame. While the linear focus was on the journey of our Avengers and ultimately defeating Thanos, we cannot help but think about the splintered timeline that was created in Marvel universe.

Along with Loki’s new timeline and Steve Rogers hopping aboard his own personal timeline, there’s one more we cannot stop thinking about — the 2014 timeline that Thanos, Nebula, and Gamora all abandoned to travel to 2023.

Their actions inadvertently created a whole new timeline with some pretty dire consequences for the whole universe. Let’s dive in and see exactly how. You would think a timeline without Thanos existing would be a safer place — well maybe for Earth initially, but for the rest of the universe — not so much. In Avengers Endgame, when the 2014 version of Thanos travels through time and doesn’t return, he creates an alternate timeline where himself, Gamora, and Nebula no longer exist. This splintered timeline is full of possibilities, but also has some dire consequences including a threat that even the Avengers wouldn’t be able to stop. In this period, which we’ll refer to as Earth-2014 just for the heck of it, the whole universe would be destroyed all thanks to Ego. Exactly how would this happen? Let’s break things down and give a little shoutout to Reddit user LjGor for creating the theory.

Since its inception, the characters of the Marvel Cinematic Universe have seen a number of dramatic changes. A huge thrill of following the MCU is watching its wide swath of characters undergo profound transformations. But since phase one, few characters have seen such a radical metamorphosis as Thor has.

In the latest Marvel installment, Avengers: Endgame, audiences were shocked to see a fat, washed-up and depressed Thor, content with doing little more than playing Fortnite while balancing a glass of beer on his new potbelly. This is a sharp contrast to the way the mythically heroic, ultra-masculine God of Thunder was first introduced.

To be sure, there has been a great deal of controversy around Thor’s portrayal, which many have argued trivializes weight gain — particularly as it relates to mental illness, grief and post-traumatic stress. However, many were also quick to defend the inclusion of a fat superhero in a cinematic universe that has never seen anything of the like.

Controversy aside, in order to theorize as to whether or not Thor will maintain his dad bod in phase four, we’ll have to take a look at the fascinating character arc the God of Thunder has experienced in the first three. What do phases one through three have to teach us as to what’s next for Thor? Will his physique revert to its usual macho state in the wake of the controversy it ignited, or can we expect to see more of fat Thor? Based on his development so far, we have a pretty good guess as to where the series might be taking Thor. We hope you’ll join us in taking a deep dive into the emergence of this chubbier version of the God of Thunder, and whether or not he’s here to stay.

Sequels, when successful, are a fantastic way to give audiences more of what they want AND things they never expected. Done correctly, a sequel can enrich its predecessor’s story and characters and allow audiences to spend more time in the world they love. When done incorrectly, though, things can get a little messy. Scratch that: things can get REALLY messy.

Disney knows a thing or two about how to make a quick buck and they took full-advantage of this knowledge with a slew of direct-to-video sequels to some of their most beloved classics. But the downside of trying to make easy money is the inevitable dip in quality that follows. So many of these Disney sequels ended up failing in one way or another, mostly in terms of quality.

Some of these Disney sequels take the route of serving as a prequel. Examples like The Fox and the Hound 2, Belle’s Enchanted Christmas and Bambi II. Others are misguided from the get-go, such as Cinderella III, which features time travel as a prominent plot device. Some were just retreads of the same plot and character arcs, such as The Little Mermaid II and Return to Neverland, while others like Mulan II and Pocahontas II completely destroyed their characters’ essences. Even the live action attempts like Tron Legacy and Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides ended up being underwhelming.

Let’s take a deep dive into all these Disney sequels to determine what went wrong and whether or not there were any steps that could have been taken to improve the final products.
