Saving Private Ryan’s Omaha Beach – Art of The Scene

It’s widely hailed as the most realistic representation of war ever put on screen, and one of the most challenging battle scenes in an epic war film. This week, on Art of the Scene, in honor of the 71st anniversary of D-Day, we’re looking at the storming of Omaha Beach from Saving Private Ryan. SUBSCRIBE: http://goo.gl/9AGRm

Steven Spielberg’s take on this historic battle aimed to do honor to those who fought, and the result is a realistic – and very human – perspective on the chaos of war. But getting the scene put to film was an enormous challenge for everyone involved. From intense military training for the cast, to intensive attention to detail from the costume and art departments, re-creating this seminal historical moment was a mission for hundreds of filmmaking pros.

We’ll take you through the numerous decisions Spielberg and his team made in their quest to do justice to the storming of Omaha Beach for audiences – and veterans alike.

What did you think? Did we teach you something you didn’t know about Saving Private Ryan’s Storming of Omaha Beach? Did we make you consider more about the arts of costuming, sound design, or motion picture photography? Have you seen Saving Private Ryan recently?

What other scenes would you like to see us explore in future episodes of Art of the Scene?

Jurassic Park – 8 Bit Cinema

Okay! OKAY! This one is pretty much 32-bit! Haha but CineFix presents Jurassic Park retold via old-school 8-bit (and mostly 32 bit 😉 game tech. No quarters, controllers, or genetic engineering required! Subscribe to CineFix – http://goo.gl/9AGRm

We’re guessing the excitement for Jurassic World has gotten you nostalgic for the original Jurassic Park, right? Why not also indulge your nostalgia for old-school video games at the same time? Jurassic Park was on the cutting edge of CGI back in 1993… we give the dinosaurs a treatment that’s a little less ahead of its time.

Thus, we present Jurassic Park in the form of an 8 bit video game!

Directed by David Dutton

Music by Henry Dutton

8-bit Cinema “gamifies” your favorite Hollywood Blockbusters into 80’s arcade and NES inspired action!

8 Bit a.k.a. the third generation of gaming started in 1983 with the Japanese release of the Nintendo Family Computer and Sega. Can you guess what games inspired our 8-bit version of Jurassic Park? Comment below and suggest the next movie 8-bit Cinema should “gamify”.
