The Volkswagen Golf GTI Clubsport S is the hottest Golf GTI that Volkswagen has yet made. It has a 306bhp engine and only two seats; the rear bench having been thrown out during a weight saving process that has shaved 30kg from the standard GTI.

An advanced aerodynamic package and a range of suspension modifications means the Clubsport S laps the Nürburgring Nordschleife in 7m 49.21sec; faster than a Honda Civic Type-R, Renaultsport Megane Trophy R and Seat Leon Cupra 280.

This Ferrari 308 GTB Group B rally car was developed in a time when rallying was wild and more exciting than at any other time in history. Cars were incredibly rapid – too rapid to be safe, ultimately – and the Ferrari 308, although never officially sanctioned by the factory, enjoyed unofficial support.

Fewer than half a dozen Group B 308s were built by Michelotto in Italy, while in the UK, rally driver and sports car specialist Tony Worswick developed his own version. This is it, the very car he built when new and campaigned with great success.

We drive it at Cholmondeley Castle, home of the Cholmondeley Power and Speed, from 10-12 June 2016.

The Range Rover Sport SVR is one of those cars that’s hard to comprehend. It’s a true heavyweight at 2335kg, but will do 0-62mph in a frankly ridiculous 4.7sec. Subscribe now: http://smarturl.it/autocar

What’s even harder to believe is how uncompromising it is. It has all the attributes you expect from a Range Rover: the commanding driving position, a luxurious interior, practical cabin, brilliant ride, but the SVR turns performance up to 12.

With a supercharged 542bhp, 5.0-litre V8 engine and a raft of mechanical and dynamic changes to accompany the extra horsepower, it is an absolute beast.
