Steve Sutcliffe rides with Ken Block on the eve of his appearance at the 2013 Gymkhana GRID world finals. Days ahead of the release of his Gymkhana 6 video, Ken Block puts his 650bhp Monster Energy Ford Fiesta through its paces in a series of smoky drifts and donuts, showing Sutters how it is done. The action takes place on the same tight course that saw the world’s best drivers compete in the finals of this international competition.

Ferrari F12 Berlinetta vs Toyota GT86 – which is more fun?

The Ferrari F12 Berlinetta and Toyota GT86 are separated by £214,000 and 533bhp, but they are both best-of-breed front-engined, rear-drive drivers’ cars. So, which is best?

They’re both handsome, reasonably practical cars. They both have an engine in the front sending power to the rear wheels. And while the Ferrari F12 Berlinetta will hit 211mph, the Toyota GT86 will ‘only’ reach 140mph. But the thing we’re interested in is this: can a £240,000 supercar thrill its drivers on track more than a £25,000 Toyota? Matt Prior takes both to Snetterton to find out.

Can a supercar beat a superbike? Can a Audi A1 outrun a Nissan GT-R on a wet circuit? Can a Porsche 911 slay a Corvette on the drag strip? Autocar pitches the giants of the performance car world against each other to deliver the all-important verdict.

What could we do with two supercars that hadn’t been done before?

After a few moments thought, Steve Sutcliffe called in some assistance, booked a private test track, called in the slo-mo camera crew and set a series of light-hearted challenges for our intrepid supercar pairing.

Challenge three: which is faster in a straight line?

Lotus Exige V6 Cup – road car vs race car – autocar.co.uk

Lotus is on its way back, and the proof is the Lotus Exige V6 Cup – both in street trim, the Cup S, and the Cup R racer. Steve Sutcliffe puts them to the test.

For most people, the standard Lotus Exige V6 would surely represent the ultimate kind of sports car. It weighs little more than a box of feathers, its interior is quite extraordinarily uncluttered by unnecessary luxuries, and its supercharged Toyota V6 engine provides it with enough grunt — 345bhp — to embarrass all but the most ambitious supercar drivers. Sutters travels to Lotus’ test track in Hethel to drive the Exige V6 Cup S road car and the Exige V6 Cup R racer.
