What started as a joke turned out to be a significant World War II discovery. A boy near Birkelse, Denmark, received a homework assignment to do research on WWII. His dad recalled a story from his grandfather about a plane crashing on their farm during the war. So he jokingly told the boy, 14-year-old Daniel Rom Kristiansen, to go searching for the plane. A metal detector led them to a buried German WWII plane and they also found skeletal remains of its pilot.
