While you might not know this, North American films often are altered to appease international viewers. This can be everything from re-casting or adding a character that is popular in a specific country, to having an alternate title of the film. We’ll be looking at how in Iron Man 3 included alternate scenes of Chinese superstar Fan Bingbing playing Dr. Wu’s assisting nurse as well sharing our favourite movie titles that were lost in translation. Without spoiling the video, we’ll be trying to figure out how Amy Schumer’s Trainwreck became Crazy Amy and how the movie Lost in Translation literally got “lost in translation” and became Lost in a Strange Place. There are tons of changes within these movies and seeing the different versions is pretty surprising in some cases.

In addition, we’ll cover how things are censored if the country doesn’t allow certain things to be viewed, our favourite example being Iran banning the scenes where Will Ferrell is pantless in Talladega Nights. On top of that, we’ll show you examples of films where characters and details were changed. In Inside Out, the young girl hates eating broccoli but because the vegetable is widely loved in Japan, for the Japanese version they switched it to green peppers. In Zootopia, the news anchors are different animals depending on which country the film is released for. For example, in China the news anchor is changed to a panda and in Australia and New Zealand its a koala. Join us as we discuss twenty five examples of movies that were changed in other countries.
