The Office is one of the most beloved TV comedies of all time. In fact, six years after the show ended, it’s actually the most streamed series on Netflix. The likes of Steve Carell as Michael Scott, John Krasinski as Jim Halpert, Rainn Wilson as Dwight Schrute and Jenna Fischer as Pam Beasly helped elevate the show to something really special that people connected with, as did all the amazing work done by the show’s writers and showrunners.

There’s a lot that Hollywood can learn about a show like The Office– but instead of a making a general “The Office” is good video, let’s take a look at a few lessons that can be learned from a SINGLE episode of the show. The Wayans brothers created a monster. The Scary Movie franchise survived through five movies, spoofing and lampooning mainstream horror movies of the 70’s, 80’s, 90’s and early 2000’s. Although the Scary Movie series started as a spoof of the self-aware slasher hit, Scream, the comedy and its subsequent sequels parodied Halloween, The Exorcist, The Sixth Sense, Blair Witch Project, The Shining, The Ring, and Signs just to name a few. But the franchise also found room for jokes poking fun at other movies of the day: including Titanic, Amistad, Election, Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, The Lord of the Rings, Eight Mile, Minority Report, and a even stuck in a bunch of references to The Matrix. When the Wayans left after Scary Movie 2, filmmakers behind Airplane and The Naked Gun took over the directing and storytelling duties. From there, the franchise eventually burned out.

Still, we’ll never forget some of the Scary Movies series’ greatest jokes, most clever references and even some of its biggest missteps.
