ولدت الفنانة نادية الجندي، الملقبة نجمة الجماهير، في مدينة الإسكندرية، مصر عام 1945.
بدأت نادية الجندي حياتها الفنية وهي لا تزال
طالبة في المدرسة من خلال مشاركتها في فيلم “جميلة” مع ماجدة وصلاح ذو الفقار ومن إخراج يوسف شاهين عام 1958.
عام 1960 شاركت نادية الجندي في فيلم “زوجة
من الشارع” مع كمال الشناوي وعماد حمدي ومن إخراج حسن الإمام. في هذه الفيلم تعرفت بشكل شخصي على الفنان عماد حمدي وتزوجت منه رغم فارق العمر الكبير
وأنجبت أبنها الوحيد “هشام عماد حمدي” ولم تكن قد بلغت سن ستة عشر سنة.
خلال فترة الستينات وأوئل السبعينات شاركت نادية الجندي في بعض الأعمال بأدوار صغيرة
عام 1973 تم إنفصالها عن الفنان عماد حمدي.
عام 1974 قدمت أول أدوار البطولة المطلقة لها في الفيلم الإستعراضي الغنائي “بمبة كشر” مع سمير صبري وسعيد صالح ومن إخراج حسن الإمام.
أنتجت بنفسها هذا الفيلم بالإضافة إلى قيامها بتصميم ملابسها وأكسسواراتها. لم ترض شركات التوزيع أن توزع هذا الفيلم لأن بطلته لم تكن معروفة للجمهور إلى أن وافقت وزارة الثقافة على
توزيعه عام 1975. نجح الفيلم نجاحاً كبيراً واستمر عرضه في دور السينما لمدة سنة كاملة حاصداً أعلى إيرادات مما جعل الوسط الفني بأكمله يطلق عليها لقب “نجمة الجماهير”.
جوم جديد تعرضت له الفنانة نادية الجندي بعد إشاعات مغرضة تناولت طبيعة علاقتها بأول أزواجها الفنان الكبير الراحل عماد حمدي وأنها كانت السبب وراء إفلاسه وإكتئابه مما تسبب في وفاته مما دفع النجمة المصرية للرد.
قالت نادية الجندي: “حسبي الله ونعم الوكيل”. ويعلم الله أن عماد حمدي الله يرحمه كان أب لى وليس زوج فقط وهو والد ابني الوحيد هشام وأنا أطول زوجة عاشت معه ( 12 سنة ) وفارق السن
بيننا كان يزيد عن 40 عاماً وطوال فترة زواجي منه لم يساعدني على الإطلاق بالعكس كان يريدني زوجة وأم فقط. وطوال فترة زواجنا لم أقدم أي بطولات تذكر كلها كانت أدوار ثانية وثانوية.
وتابعت نادية الجندي: “ولما أنتجت فيلم بمبة كشر أول بطولاتي والذي أنتجته من مكاسب بوتيك الأزياء الخاص بي لم يكتب الفيلم عماد حمدي باسمي كمنتجة حتى يهرب من الضرائب كما كتب
مؤخراً والفيلم موجود أرجعوا للتتر: أفلام عماد حمدي تقدم. يعني كل اللي بيتقال غير صحيح ودة يثبت أن كل كلامهم كدب في كدب. وتم كتابه الفيلم باسم عماد حمدي عشان التوزيع باسم فنان
معروف في السوق وقتها لأني كنت وجه جديد وكان أيضاً ضمن أبطال الفيلم ويعلم الله أن الإكتئاب اللي أصابه في الفترة الأخيرة كان بسبب وفاة شقيقه التوأم عبد الرحمن وكبر سنه.
