Many months ago, Nissan asked their fans to help them create the ultimate 370Z track car. They called it Project 370Z. To put it to the test, Nissan fans were asked to vote for a challenger to compete against it. They chose a 1970 Datsun 240Z with an RB26 engine transplant built by Gordon MacSwain. On this episode of The Downshift, we head to Las Vegas Motor Speedway for an epic David vs Goliath battle between these two amazing machines.

Steve Sutcliffe is behind the wheel of the Jaguar F-Type V8 S, the range-topping model which can launch from rest to 62mph in 4.2 seconds and go on to a limited 189mph. Its sonorous 489bhp motor gets a helping hand from the lightweight aluminium construction of the F-Type’s body, while the driver sits lower than in any previous Jaguar. This could finally be a match for the legendary Porsche 911.

The nail trick. (eg. http://youtu.be/sQrz6sRjiVI). It’s been done many times with nails, but I hadn’t ever seen it done with matches. It’s surprisingly tricky, especially outside in a breeze.

It’s pretty hard to even balance 1 match on top of another, so for this quick experiment I tried using the technique from my “Gravity Puzzle” video to see if it would work.

It takes a bit of practice, but with some time and some patience, 15 matches will hold together, and can be balanced on top of one single matchstick.

I tried lighting them on fire to see what would happen, and impressively they stayed burning and balancing the majority of the time. If it weren’t for a slight breeze blowing them off, I doubt they would have even fallen at all.
