In this video I compare Chrome 10 vs Firefox 4 vs Internet Explorer 9 vs Opera 11 vs Safari 5 to see which is fastest at Javascript, general web browsing, HTML5 compliance and GPU hardware acceleration. Each browser has their own pros and cons as well as special features however here I just look at the raw benchmarks to determine the winner.
The benchmarks I use are the JSBenchmark, V8 Benchmark Version 6, Sunspider 0.9.1, Peacekeeper, IE9 Flying Images and the HTML5 Test. Each is run multiple times on the same Windows 7 computer to ensure a fair fight.

Behind the Webb: Wax On, Wax Off (Episode 10)
The making of the Webb Space Telescope’s mirrors is a complex process. Each surface must be precisely shaped to capture and direct the maximum amount of light to the telescope’s detectors. The mirrors must be ground and polished to a smooth curve that keeps light from bouncing off in unwanted directions. Join us at Tinsley Laboratories in Richmond, Calif., where engineers are bringing Webb’s mirrors to their exact requirements.
“Behind the Webb” is an ongoing series that follows the construction of the Webb Space Telescope, Hubble’s successor. Find more episodes at Hubblesite.org.
