وذكرت جريدة “المساء” المصرية أن الفنان الراحل سقط مرتين على المسرح ووقف بعد الأولي بمساعدة زملائه واستأنف البروفة وفي الثانية سقط مغشياً عليه وتم نقله علي الفور لمستشفي القصر العيني “الفرنساوي” ولفظ أنفاسه هناك.
وتوافد عشرات الفنانين لتقديم واجب العزاء لأسرة الفنان الراحل ووالد الممثل الشاب محمود غريب الذي وافته المنية ودفن بمقابر الأسرة بالدراسة. تجدر الاشارة الى أن مجلس النقابة قرر الوقوف إلي جانب أسرة الفنان الراحل وصرف كل متعلقاته علي الفور من صناديق التكافل الاجتماعي والزمالة والمعاش ومصاريف الجنازة والعزاء . هذا وقد شارك غريب محمود في عدد من الأعمال التليفزيونية والمسرحية والسينمائية منها “التجربة الدنماركية” مع عادل إمام، “دسوقي أفندي في المصيف”، و “المولد”، ومسلسل “ساكن قصادي”، و “التوأم”، و”حد السكين”، و “الحلم والوهم” ومسرحية “عشان خاطر عيونك” مع الراحل فؤاد المهندس، بالإضافة الي عدد من الاعمال الأخري. جدير بالذكر أن غريب محمود اشتهر بتقديم برنامج “أبو العُريف” علي شاشة التليفزيون المصري وهو عبارة عن نصائح وتوجيهات وكما كان يتضمن نصائح تدعو لمحو الأمية
