فى القرن الثانى عشر اختلف أحد الملوك الأنجليز مع البابا في وقت كانت فيه بريطانيا كاثوليكية وكرد إنتقامي حرم البابا تزاوج البريطانيين , الأمر الذي أوقع الملك في حرج أمام شعبه ، وللخروج من هذا المأزق طلب الملك من ملوك طوائف في الأندلس إرسال بعض المشايخ كي تتحول بريطانيا للإسلام نكاية بالفاتيكان
إلاّ أن ملوك الاندلس تقاعسوا عن تنفيذ هذا الطلب حتى وصل الخبر إلى البابا ، فأصلح الخلاف ورفع قرار التحريم , ولك أن تتصور إسلام أنجلترا فى ذلك الوقت .. ليضاف ذلك الخطأ الشنيع لمجمل أخطاء ملوك الطوائف بالأندلس الذي كان حكمهم بداية النهاية للحكم الإسلامى فى الأندلس
ولسبب غامض لاتوجد كتابات كثيرة عن هذا الملك مما جعله يختفي من معظم المصادر التاريخية غير انه عاد إلى الواجهة بقوة بعد إكتشاف عملة نقدية تحمل بالإضافة لأسمه شهادة ( لا إله إلا الله محمد رسول الله ) رغم وجود هذه العملة في المتحف البريطاني منذ عام 1922 إلا أن الجدل مايزال دائراً حول أصلها وخلفيتها التاريخية
