BIZARRE JRPGs TO HAUNT YOUR DREAMS. There are plenty of weird things to discuss about the JRPG genre. In fact, it was hard to limit ourselves when making this video because there’s just so much strangeness in these games.

In order to really enjoy a JRPG, you must be fans of bizarre storytelling, fantasy worlds, giant robots, strange characters and confused protagonists. All of these elements usually form to create something we love about the genre.
Anyone who has had the pleasure of playing a JRPG knows just how weird they can get. It’s the only genre that can make Charles Barkley battling Michael Jordan in a post-apocalyptic world seem acceptable. That’s right, just another strange game released in the early 90’s, nothing to see here.
The genre brings us games in the heyday of the Space Jam craze, but then they also deliver these deeply complex games like Eternal Sonata and Nier: Automata. Although neither of these have anything in common, it embraces the humanity in us all and the ability to find something to love about our own twisted emotions. Although one of them is about the fantastical world created by a famous dying composer and the other is about a bunch of robots without a purpose, they still find some way to have common ground. It’s truly remarkable.
No one can forget about the Shadow Hearts series where some pretty wacky characters set out to relive the past. Our favorite one had to be Shadow Hearts: From the New World where you played as a teenage boy in the early 1900’s trying to keep his family’s detective agency afloat during an incredibly trying period in American history. All of these games are unique and amazing for their replayability even years after they’ve been released. Without further ado, let’s check out 9 strange JRPGs that will haunt your dreams!
