Nintendo’s consoles are usually massive successes. The NES, SNES, N64, Wii and Nintendo Switch all set sales records. However, if one console could be described as a commercial failure, it was the Wii U. It wouldn’t have taken much for it to have been as big and as popular as its predecessors. Today, we’ll tell you how it could’ve been.

Historically, Nintendo has always worked well with third party developers to bring people the biggest games on its systems. With the Wii U, it could have had Grand Theft Auto V, but didn’t. We’ll explore how that could’ve made a difference. We’ll also talk about marketing, promotion and how it’s name hindered its chances, as well as looking at its confusing controller situation where no one knew what thing was for which game. We’ll even look at how it could have become a handheld gaming system, but didn’t, and how it could have had better online features.
